What is Two-Factor Authentication? And why you NEED to do this - RIGHT NOW.

Two-Factor Authentication, also known as 2FA, is a two-step verification method to use when logging into social media accounts or devices. The first factor is usually a password to type in, and the second factor can be a phone number, security code, or email. After typing in the password, the account will ask for the code that was sent to either the email or phone number, which only the person with the second factor information will have access to. Some other second factors involve using biometrics such as fingerprints or facial recognition. TechTarget Security says, “2FA is implemented to better protect both a user’s credentials and the resources the user can access.” Even if a hacker has the password, they will not be able to get through the second factor without having your personal information.

How Does Two-Factor Authentication Help Businesses?

Meta Business Help Center states, “Two-Factor Authentication helps to ensure that only authorized users can access your business accounts on Facebook.” This is important for businesses that have trouble with hackers and cybersecurity threats, and puts a barrier between people trying to steal information that would be important to their business. Without having the second factor approved, a password is useless to a hacker. By helping to verify your identity when you log in, it will prevent later issues and keep accounts safe.

Benefits of Using Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Adds an additional layer of privacy, security, and safety to accounts by making it harder for someone to hack it

  2. Reduces the need to change passwords

  3. Makes sure the user is the only one in possession of the account

  4. Better control of who has access to accounts and files
